Coniston Water is famous as the site of Donald Campbell’s ill-fated speed attempt in ‘Bluebird’, and is the home of the beautiful steam boat ‘Gondola’. From here we drive into through the Jaws of Borrowdale (slightly less menacing than it sounds,) into Borrowdale Valley.
