Christmas Breaks

Friday 23rd December 2011

Arrival is at your leisure and once settled, individual afternoon tea will be served in the Langdale Bar and Lounge with its glorious views over the lake, so synonymous with Low Wood Bay. Dinner this evening will be served in our Windermere Restaurant with its open views over the gardens and distant fells.

Christmas Eve – Saturday 24th December 2011

After a Hearty Lakeland breakfast, take advantage of some free time and partake in a gentle stroll to Ambleside for some last minute stocking fillers, or maybe enjoy morning coffee and biscuits on Lake Windermere, departing from Ambleside pier which is a short walk from the hotel.

This afternoon full afternoon tea will be served, accompanied by several games of “Bingo”. At 5 pm the little ones amongst us will have the chance to join “Sam” the dog and sprinkle Reindeer Sparkles round the ground, so that Santa knows where to drop those all important gifts. After this excitement there will be children’s high tea served in the Windermere Restaurant.

Children, don’t forget to post your letters to Santa in Sam’s post box this evening and follow Santa around the world with our GPS screen which tracks his every move!

Your host, Nevil Jeffery, and his team will welcome you this evening to a Champagne and canapé reception where you will have a chance to meet friends old and new to the sound of our resident Carol Singer. Set the scene for a gourmet dinner in our “Ever Changing” themed Lake Suite – truly a breathtaking sight, it sparkles with a feeling of Christmas in the air and always raises admiring gasps!

Mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies will be served for those returning from Midnight Mass.

Christmas Day – Sunday 25th December 2011

A very merry Christmas Day will begin with a Lakeland Buck Fizz Breakfast, when all children receive a Santa sack – filled with treats and entertaining games!

Santa knows your location, so venture out for a brisk stroll along the water’s edge or on the Lakeland fells, bearing in mind the anticipated visit of Santa and his helpers. He will bring gifts for all the children and will also judge the best Christmas tree decoration made to adorn our Reception Tree.

Traditional Christmas Luncheon – with all the trimmings – will follow, full of seasonal cheer with crackers to pull and hats to don, in the festive surroundings of the Windermere Restaurant. The remainder of the day is yours to relax, enjoying the television broadcast of the Queen’s Speech to the accompaniment of Christmas cake and tea.

7.30 pm is our vibrant “Las Vegas” Casino Night for all ages, with prizes to be won and a seafood buffet taking centre stage – this will also include a half-bottle of house wine per person.

Boxing Day – Monday 26th December 2011

Today we have left free for you either to discover, or revisit, the delights that the glorious Lake District has to offer. Alternatively, you may wish to take part in one of our house quizzes, which always get the grey matter going!

4pm and it’s the inaugural “Black Pudding hurling” competition for all ages.

7pm guests are called to our Black Tie Gala Dinner Champagne and canapés reception followed by the gastronomic delights of our 6 course Gala Dinner menu. (Tables this evening are formal banquet style of 8 or more, dependent on party size.)

Remember your dancing shoes as our resident DJ helps all to trip the light fantastic into the wee small hours.

Thursday 29th December 2011 - 3 night Package commences

Once settled in to your room, full afternoon tea will be served in the Langdale Bar and Lounge. Dinner this evening is included and will be served in the Windermere Restaurant a nice leisurely start to our New Year celebrations.

Friday 30th December - 2 night Package commences with afternoon tea

Enjoy your Lakeland breakfast in the Windermere Restaurant and then relax as today is yours to explore the delights that this area has to offer. We have organised afternoon tea to be served on a Private charter on Lake Windermere making best the sight and sounds of the longest lake in Britain.

This evening begins with Champagne Cocktail pre-dinner drinks in the Langdale Lounge and Bar prior making your way through to the Windermere Restaurant for dinner. 9.30pm its games night with our 4 tabled Casino and Horse Racing event in the Gallery Lounge, a great, get to know you ice breaker for all concerned.

New Year’s Eve - 1 night Package commences with afternoon tea (Limited Availability)

Enjoy a hearty Lakeland breakfast and then perhaps make the most of the scenery of the glorious English Lakeland countryside before a light buffet luncheon at noon. This afternoon you can take part in our award winning Black Pudding Hurling Competition before afternoon tea.

7.15pm our resident bagpipers will welcome you to our Champagne and Canapé drinks reception. “New Year Black Tie Gala Dinner” is served at 8pm in specially designed pop up restaurant. Midnight is celebrated as a house party and closely followed by our private fireworks display with our resident DJ drawing the night to a close in the early hours.

New Year’s Day – Sunday 1st January 2012

Relax this morning as breakfast is served from 8.30am right through to midday. All good house parties must come to an end as we bid you a farewell or maybe you should take advantage of our special from £39.00 additional night stay over rate either way all the team will have enjoyed celebrating New Year with you in style.
