Christmas Celebration at the Midland
Friday 23rd December
Arrive to a warm welcome, a glass of piping hot Midland ‘Mulled wine’ before relaxing and unwinding in our Sun Terrace Restaurant overlooking Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Fells beyond.
After settling into your room, join us in the famous Sun Terrace for festive nibbles and a chilled glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne, following which our concierge, Brian Jenkins, will be conducting a tour of the building with insights into this internationally renowned modernist masterpiece.
This evening Mark Needham, General Manager, and the rest of the team welcome you to the evening’s entertainment beginning with a champagne and canapé reception to the sounds of our resident pianist, followed by dinner in the hotel’s Sun Terrace Restaurant.
Our annual gourmet multi-course tasting menu this evening celebrates some of the best local produce from Lancashire, with each course given the Midland’s own unique twist!
Then, why not sit back and relax with your favourite tipple as our resident pianist brings a memorable start to our celebrations to a close.
Christmas Eve – Saturday 24th December
After your hearty Lancashire breakfast, why not sit back and relax with a glass of mulled wine, or alternatively explore the hotel and surrounding area with our festive treasure hunt.
This afternoon we will be serving a traditional Lancashire hot pot with all the accompaniments. After lunch we give you the chance to show your creative side and take part in some of our seasonal activities.
Tonight we welcome the St John’s Hospice choir to get us into the festive spirit during our drinks & canape reception, followed by a 4 course dinner served in the Sun Terrace restaurant. After dinner we welcome you into our Ravilious Rotunda Bar for a cocktail & casino evening with some great prizes for the high rollers!
Local parish churches welcome the community and visitors alike for midnight mass, and a warm glass of mulled wine awaits your return to the hotel.
Christmas Day – Sunday 25th December
Christmas Day at The Midland begins with a celebratory glass of bucks fizz, a visit from a very special seasonal visitor, and a full Lancashire breakfast. You may then decide to take the opportunity to relax and unwind (or open presents) before the main event of the day - a four course traditional Christmas Day lunch served with all the trimmings, followed as ever by the broadcast of the Queen’s Speech.
Join us again in the evening for our Christmas Gala buffet where we are sure you will find more room for some more of our food offering.
Alternatively, why not compete against fellow guests with our selection of parlour and board games in the rotunda bar, enjoy our screening of Poirot ‘Double Sin’ which was filmed in the hotel in 1989, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the surroundings for what remains of a very special Christmas Day.
Boxing Day – Monday 26th December
Why not enjoy a (completely optional) lie-in before joining us for a very leisurely brunch.
This afternoon we welcome you to enjoy the beautiful coastline of Morecambe Bay before returning back to the Hotel for our famous Midland afternoon tea featuring table magic from the fantastic David Lancaster.
This evening’s 3 course dinner will feature our chef’s twist on some traditional British pub favourites served in the Sun Terrace restaurant, after dinner we will then finish the night with our Pub Quiz with prizes for the lucky winners.
Finally, why not enjoy a nightcap overlooking the splendour of Morecambe Bay and round off a unique and memorable Christmas.
Tuesday 27th December
Following another hearty breakfast, we must unfortunately say our goodbyes to those of you not wishing to take advantage of our special preferential rates to extend your stay, as you leave us with our very best wishes and the hope of welcoming you back to The Midland in the very near future.
