Christmas Celebrations at the Midland 2014
The Midland Hotel once again provides the perfect setting to enjoy very special and unique Christmas and New Year packages for 2014.
This famous and iconic Art-Deco building has been lovingly restored, with many original features from its glamorous heyday sitting comfortably alongside its chic interior design, and many of the 44 boutique-style rooms boasting truly spectacular views across Morecambe Bay.
Christmas Celebration at the Midland
Tuesday 23rd December
Arrive to a warm welcome and a glass of piping hot Midland ‘Winter Pimms’, before relaxing and unwinding in our Sun Terrace Restaurant overlooking Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Fells beyond.
After settling into your room (and perhaps enjoying your complimentary bottle of champagne courtesy of our friends at Laurent Perrier), join us for our famous Midland Lancashire Tapas and informal wine and champagne tasting from 3pm, following which our concierge, Brian Jenkins, will be conducting a tour of the building with insights into this internationally renowned modernist masterpiece.
This evening Matt Stanaway, General Manager, and the rest of the team welcome you to the evening’s entertainment beginning with a Laurent Perrier champagne and canapé reception to the sounds of our resident pianist and choir, followed by dinner in the hotel’s Sun Terrace Restaurant. Your 8-course gourmet tasting menu this evening celebrates some of the very best dishes and home-made produce from our English Lakes Hotels’ kitchens and restaurants, including dishes inspired by produce from our Wild Boar Inn smokehouse, home-roasted coffee from our colleagues at The Waterhead and favourite and classic dishes from both Lancaster House and Low Wood Bay.
Then, why not sit back and relax with your favourite tipple as our pianist ‘Boogie’ Bill Roberts brings a memorable start to our celebrations to a close.
Christmas Eve – Wednesday 24th December
Following a hearty Lancashire breakfast, why not sit back and relax with a glass of mulled wine, or alternatively explore the hotel and surrounding area with our festive treasure hunt.
Our Midland Laurent Perrier Champagne afternoon tea will be served from 3.30pm to the festive sounds of the Morecambe Brass Band, and then why not join Anthony and Stephanie for our annual dance masterclass, with tips on how to put your ‘best foot forward’ at tonight’s dinner dance.
This evening, and due to popular demand, we are delighted to welcome the famous Greg Francis Band to our Eric Gill Suite for the return of our Christmas dinner dance . The menu this evening celebrates all things ‘Vintage’ with, as you would expect, our very own Midland ‘twist’.
Local parish churches welcome the community and visitors alike for midnight mass, and a warm glass of mulled wine awaits your return to the hotel.
Christmas Day – Thursday 25th December
Christmas Day at The Midland begins with a celebratory glass of bucks fizz, a visit from a very special seasonal visitor, and a full Lancashire breakfast. You might then take the opportunity to relax and unwind (or open presents) before the main event of the day - a four course traditional Christmas Day lunch served with all the trimmings, followed as ever by the broadcast of the Queen’s Speech.
After the exertions of the day, a light but sumptuous buffet will be served, showcasing some of the fantastic local produce and suppliers we are proud to be associated with.
Following this, why not compete against fellow guests with our selection of parlour and board games, enjoy a seasonal movie in our tv lounge, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the surroundings for what remains of a very special Christmas Day.
Boxing Day – Friday 26th December
Why not enjoy a (completely optional) lie-in before joining us for a very leisurely brunch.
Following the opportunity to enjoy a special and exclusive tour around the historic Morecambe Winter Gardens, join us back at the hotel for champagne, fish and chips and our annual festive quiz, before gathering together for the return of The Midland Cocktail Masterclass and competition, where the winning cocktail will take centre stage as tonight’s pre-dinner drink for fellow guests!
The evening’s entertainment then begins with a festive hog roast followed by the inaugural Midland ‘Night at The Races’ where you can enjoy the thrill and excitement of the real thing without compromising your wallet!
Finally, why not enjoy a nightcap overlooking the splendour of Morecambe Bay and round off a unique and memorable Christmas.
Saturday 27th December
Following another hearty breakfast, we must unfortunately say our goodbyes to those of you not wishing to take advantage of our special preferential rates to extend your stay, as you leave us with our very best wishes and in the hope of having the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Midland in the very near future.
