Christmas Celebrations at the Midland

Wednesday 23rd December

Arrive to a warm welcome, a glass of piping hot Midland ‘Winter Pimms’ and a complimentary bottle of champagne in your room* before relaxing and unwinding in our Sun Terrace Restaurant overlooking Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Fells beyond.

After settling into your room, join us for our famous Midland Afternoon Tea and a chilled glass of Laurent Perrier Rosé Champagne from 3pm, following which our concierge, Brian Jenkins, will be conducting a tour of the building with insights into this internationally renowned modernist masterpiece.

This evening Mark Needham, General Manager, and the rest of the team welcome you to the evening’s entertainment beginning with a cocktail and canapé reception to the sounds of our resident pianist and Christmas Choir, and followed by dinner in the hotel’s Sun Terrace Restaurant. Our annual gourmet multi-course tasting menu this evening celebrates some of the very best dishes from Lancashire and Cumbria, each given the Midland’s own unique twist!

Then, why not sit back and relax with your favourite tipple as our pianist ‘Boogie’ Bill Roberts brings a memorable start to our celebrations to a close.

Christmas Eve – Thursday 24th December

After your hearty Lancashire breakfast, why not sit back and relax with a glass of mulled wine, or alternatively explore the hotel and surrounding area with our festive treasure hunt.

Following a visit from Morecambe Brass Band, our ‘Meet the Managers’ Midland Pub Lunch is served at 3.30pm with the chance to assemble you teams for our annual Festive Quiz and meet the management team who will be hosting our festive celebrations.

Should this be your first visit to The Midland, or indeed if you are keen to learn more of the building's ‘colourful’ history, join our concierge Brian Jenkins prior to dinner for a tour of the building with insights into this internationally renowned modernist masterpiece.

Tonight, and returning to our Christmas package due to popular demand, dastardly deeds are afoot as our friends at After Dark visit The Midland for a special festive ‘Murder at Mistletoe Manor’ murder mystery evening with prizes for the best amateur sleuths.

Local parish churches welcome the community and visitors alike for midnight mass, and a warm glass of mulled wine awaits your return to the hotel.

Christmas Day – Friday 25th December

Christmas Day at The Midland begins with a celebratory glass of bucks fizz, a visit from a very special seasonal visitor, and a full Lancashire breakfast. You may then decide to take the opportunity to relax and unwind (or open presents) before the main event of the day - a four course traditional Christmas Day lunch served with all the trimmings, followed as ever by the broadcast of the Queen’s Speech.

After the exertions of the day, a special light ‘evening tea’ will be served in our Sun Terrace Restaurant with the chance to sit back and relax with a cup of our ‘G and Tea’ cocktail or take part in our Giant Jenga and Connect 4 competition!

Alternatively, why not compete against fellow guests with our selection of parlour and board games, enjoy a seasonal movie in our tv lounge, or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the surroundings for what remains of a very special Christmas Day.

Boxing Day – Saturday 26th December

Why not enjoy a (completely optional) lie-in before joining us for a very leisurely brunch.

Following the opportunity to enjoy a special and exclusive tour around the historic Morecambe Winter Gardens, join us back at the hotel for a Champagne Afternoon Tea before gathering together for the return of our Midland Cocktail Masterclass and competition, where the winning cocktail will take centre stage as tonight’s pre-dinner drink for fellow guests!

The evening’s entertainment then begins with our winning cocktail and a festive hog roast followed by a ‘Night at The Races’ where you can enjoy the thrill and excitement of the real thing without compromising your wallet!

Finally, why not enjoy a nightcap overlooking the splendour of Morecambe Bay and round off a unique and memorable Christmas.
