Christmas Breaks at The Midland
The Midland Hotel provides the perfect setting to enjoy a very special Christmas and New Year. This iconic Art-Deco building has been lovingly restored, with many original features from it's glamorous heyday sitting comfortably alongside it's chic interior design, and many of the 44 boutique-style rooms boasting truly spectacular views across Morecambe Bay.
Christmas Weekend at the Midland
Friday 23rd December 2011
Following a very warm welcome and glass of piping hot homemade mulled wine, relax and unwind in our restaurant overlooking Morecambe Bay and the Lake District Fells beyond, enjoying an informal ‘The Best of Lancashire’ food tasting, with some of our favourite local suppliers in attendance.
Then, dust off those dancing shoes and join us in our foyer for a dance master class. Your instructors will be on hand to offer advice to experts and novices alike on how to wow fellow guests at tomorrow’s afternoon dance!
This evening Matt Stanaway, General Manager, and the rest of the team welcome you to the evening’s celebrations starting with a champagne and canapé reception to the sounds of our Christmas choir, with resident pianist Ray Evans then playing you through a sumptuous four course candlelit dinner in our Terrace Restaurant.
Christmas Eve – Saturday 24th December 2011
Following a hearty Lancashire breakfast, why not sit back and relax with a glass of your favourite tipple, or alternatively explore the hotel and surrounding area with our festive treasure hunt.
Then, following the festive sounds of the Morecambe Brass Band, join us in our famous Eric Gill Suite to experience a traditional Midland afternoon tea and dance to the sounds of ‘Boogie Bill and his Billionaires’ playing hits from yesteryear.
Later, why not join our concierge, Brian Jenkins for a glass of bubbly and fascinating tour of this internationally renowned modernist masterpiece.
The evening’s entertainment then begins with a champagne and canapé reception to the sounds of our resident pianist, followed by dinner in the hotel’s Terrace Restaurant with our take on the Midland’s first ever menu from it’s opening in 1933!
Local parish churches welcome the community and visitors alike for midnight mass, and a warm glass of mulled wine awaits your return to the hotel.
Christmas Day – Sunday 25th December 2011
Christmas Day at The Midland begins with a celebratory glass of bucks fizz, a visit from a very special seasonal visitor, and a full Lancashire breakfast, before the opportunity to relax and unwind (or open presents) before the main event of the day - a four course traditional Christmas Day lunch served with all the trimmings, followed by the broadcast of the Queen’s Speech and a selection of festive favourites in our Marion Dorn TV Lounge.
After the exertions of the day, a light but sumptuous buffet will be served, before the opportunity to assemble your team for our ever-popular annual Midland Christmas Quiz, with fantastic prizes on offer for the winners!
Boxing Day – Monday 26th December 2011
Relax and enjoy a completely optional lie-in before joining us for a very leisurely brunch (served until midday).
Following the opportunity to enjoy a very special and exclusive tour around the historic Morecambe Winter Gardens (as seen in the recently aired ‘Eric and Ernie’), join us back at the hotel for champagne, fish and chips before making your way to the hotel’s Rotunda Bar for a special cocktail masterclass and competition, with the winning cocktail taking centre stage as tonight’s pre-dinner welcome drink for fellow guests.
This evening we welcome you to the Eric Gill Suite where dastardly deeds are afoot, and it is your task to unmask the culprit during our Titanic-themed Murder Mystery Cabaret Evening.
A nightcap overlooking the splendour of Morecambe Bay will round off a unique and memorable Christmas.
Tuesday 27th December 2011
Following another hearty breakfast, we must unfortunately say our goodbyes to those of you not wishing to take advantage of our special preferential rates to extend your stay, as you leave us with our very best wishes in the hope of having the pleasure of welcoming you back to The Midland in the very near future.
