2013 Christmas Breaks - Programme
Christmas Eve – Tuesday 24th December 2013
Following a warm welcome and glass of our ‘secret recipe’ homemade mulled wine on arrival, you can unwind and relax in our Bar and Lounge whilst enjoying some festive nibbles with stunning views over the Lake to the fells beyond. Suitably refreshed, why not discover the delights of Ambleside, to buy that last minute Christmas present or alternatively relax and unwind in our bar and lounge with a glass of your favourite tipple.
Mark Needham, General Manager, and his team then welcome you to the evening celebrations with a Champagne and canapé reception, followed by a luxurious four course dinner in the stylish surroundings of the Bar & Grill Restaurant.
It’s then time for our ever-popular casino night with blackjack, roulette and the wheel of fortune game. The local parish churches welcome the community and visitors alike for midnight mass and a glass of mulled wine will await your return to the hotel.
Christmas Day - Wednesday 25th December 2013
Our chimneys will be swept in anticipation of a seasonal visitor who will greet you with presents and a glass or two of Bucks Fizz prior to a full Christmas breakfast. Although we’re sure that for many the rest of the morning may be spent opening gifts, why not enjoy some stimulating and invigorating Lakeland air on one of our local walks where we will give you a flask of mulled wine to enjoy on your way. Hopefully, you’ll now have some space for our traditional six course Christmas Day lunch served with all the trimmings, followed by the Queen’s speech televised at 3pm in the bar. The afternoon is yours to enjoy the obligatory board game or a Christmas movie, or maybe even a cheeky siesta.
Join us again in the evening for a light, but sumptuous, buffet supper, before we invite you to take the rest of the evening as the perfect opportunity to unwind, following the exertions of the day.
Boxing Day - Thursday 26th December 2013
Relax and enjoy a well-earned lie-in! Brunch will be served in the Bar & Grill. Following this, you could take advantage of a complimentary cruise on Lake Windermere or head for the sales in the village.
In the afternoon we will be hosting our tea party with a twist; there could be a mouse in your tea pot or a rabbit in your hat?
This evening’s three course dinner will feature our chef’s twist on some traditional British Pub favourites served in the Bar & Grill, keeping with the theme it’s then time to assemble your team for the Waterhead Festive Pub Quiz with prizes for the lucky winners.
A drink or two overlooking Lake Windermere will round off a memorable and relaxing Christmas at Waterhead.

2013 Christmas Breaks Tariffs
Our 3 night festive break, commencing 24th December, including all the entertainment and meals detailed above, starts from only £525 per person. If commitments do not allow you a 3 night break, then we can also offer a 2 night break, commencing 24th December, from £425 per person.
Room Supplements
Lake view rooms - £20 per room per night. Luxury Lake view room - £40 per room per night.
Single occupancy - we have two single rooms. Once these have been sold, a supplement of £75 per night will apply to double rooms required for single occupancy.
Discounts
If there are three or more couples in your party, and you will be requiring a table of six or more for meals, then you may all be eligible for a 5% discount. Please contact us for details.
Children's Rates
The Waterhead’s festive break is not suited to young children and so we are unable to welcome those under 15. Any young adults over this age will be charged at the full adult rate.
Additional Nights
Extend your Christmas Break - 21st, 22nd or 23rd -£75.00 per person for Dinner Bed and Breakfast in a House Room, or a special rate of £106 per person per night for Dinner, bed and breakfast in a House Room on the 27th and 28th December.
