Back to School!
On 29th September 2009, 26 members of the English Lakes Commercial Team visited Goodly Dale Primary School, Windermere as part of a project to brighten up and improve play areas. Using supplies donated from various companies in the local area, assistance from Low Wood Events and Low Wood Bay maintenance office, the commercial team spent over four hours painting, gardening and repairing the infants play area.
The size of the task at hand was daunting as we had a strict four hour time limit. Before we got to work we were presented with some ideas from the children who wanted to be able to do handstands and cartwheels on the grass, enjoy a garden with plants to water, a sandpit, colourful butterflies and rainbows on the walls.
After a brief planning session, the commercial team really got creative and we discovered quite a few hidden talents!
Four hours later the play area was transformed and the team packed everything away a few children were invited to explore their schools new brighter play area. All of them were so excited about the changes we had made with the flower bed in the play houses garden being an instant hit!
In the afternoon we took a nostalgic trip down memory lane and participated in our very own School Sports Day with just as much enthusiasm as when we were 7 years old – but perhaps with a little less speed!
