Whisky Tasting Evening with Diageo

On Monday 8th August 2016, The Wild Boar welcomes Ervin Trykowski from Diageo to taste a selection of Whisky from their portfolio.

Diageo is the world’s largest producer of spirits, a notable whisky brand in the Diageo collection include Jonnie Walker, the world’s bestselling blended Scotch whisky, Bell’s, bestselling whisky in the UK, Cardhu, Talisker, and Buchanan’s. Ervin will guides us through the best of Diageo’s range.

Dine in The Wild Boar restaurant on the same evening and join our Whisky tasting for free after dinner or book your place for £10 per person.

BOARing weekend

A full weekend package where you can experience everything "Wild Boar" from Friday 4th November to Sunday 6th November 2016.

Here at The Boar we're passionate (many may say verging on the BOARing) about classic British hearty dishes, seasonal, local ingredients and of course our extensive whisky menu, home-brewed ales and Smokehouse which provides many of our signature dishes.

In celebration of this, why not join us for a very special weekend celebration featuring some of our very favourite ‘Boars’ sharing their love and knowledge of all things 'foodie'.

Throughout the weekend we will be demonstrating just how we create such Inn favourites as our famous smoked fillet steak and even our smoked peanuts. Our kitchen team certainly know their stuff and these mini-courses will have you smoking at home in no time!

We will also host a Whisky Tasting evening and are honoured to welcome James Buntin, brand ambassador of The Balvenie, to The Boar who will share his wealth of knowledge of all things whisky and who will be hosting this very exclusive tasting on the first night of your stay!

Last, and by no means least, we will also be hosting a 'Tasting of Ale' where our in-house brewing 'Boars' will share their expertise will guests and, of course, give everyone the opportunity to sample the range of ales made right here at The Wild Boar.

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Why not try your hand at clay pigeon shooting with our Instructor at the purpose built shooting range, situated within the hotel's very own private 72 acre wood. Take your chance to shoot at clays that simulate the flight of a number of different wild birds, including; the pheasant, crow, grouse and perhaps even a bolting rabbit!

A selection of smoked cheeses

Smoking Courses

Working with Smoky Jo’s to provide one day courses.

Those taking part in the courses will get the chance to smoke a range of different foods such as chicken, salmon, sausages and cheeses. As well as using the Inns own purpose built smokehouse the Smoky Jo’s team will show how tremendous results can be achieved at home – on a stove, converted bbq, wardrobe or filing cabinet!

2016 Course Dates and Prices

The courses will be at a set cost of £139.00 which also includes lunch and dinner. Add accommodation at a reduced rate too! For 2016 the course will run on the following dates:
14th September 2016
26th November 2016
7th December 2016 (Christmas Theme)
Arrival at 10.00am and finish time is approx. 3.30pm.
