Bush craft 101:
Are you a firestarter?
You’ll be welcomed at 8.30am for bacon butties before the fun of the day kicks off in the Gilpin Park Plantation behind the Wild Boar Inn. Kevin is approachable and knowledgeable on all aspects of Bush Craft and loves to show people of all ages how fire can be made.
The morning is packed full of engaging instruction on fire and how it is started. A lovely lunch is provided, don’t worry you aren’t expected to light the fire to cook it… yet.
In the afternoon foraging for your own firestarting nest begins in the historic Gilpin Park Plantation. Whilst in the woods Kevin will show you areas where Deer rest, Adders lurk and Badgers dig all whilst showing you key material that can build and keep a fire going.
Towards the end you will be given the tools to start your own fire and no they aren’t matches! Screams of delight aren’t usually far behind flames erupting in your own hands. An experience you won’t forget.
