New Year at The Midland
The Midland Hotel is known as the jewel in the crown of the English coastline for its wonderful seaside location. 2012 New Year Breaks - Programme
Sunday 30th December
Arrive at leisure to experience Lancashire’s warmest welcome, a piping hot glass of homemade mulled wine and, after settling in, a traditional Afternoon Tea in our stunning restaurant overlooking the splendour of Morecambe Bay. You may then wish to take in some fresh sea air with a walk along the promenade before joining Anthony and Stephanie for our annual ‘swing’ dance masterclass in our famous hotel lobby, with tips on how to put your best foot forward at tomorrow night’s gala dinner.
The festive celebrations then commence with a champagne and canapé reception, followed by dinner in the hotel’s Terrace Restaurant with a multi-course gourmet tasting menu celebrating the heritage and produce of some of our favourite Lancashire food producers.
The rest of the evening is then relaxed and informal, and the perfect opportunity to soak up the atmosphere, try our parlour games or start your training programme for the forthcoming Midland Winter Olympics! With games from (virtual) ice skating to ski jumping, be sure to master your chosen discipline and win gold in our Grand Final in two days time.
New Year’s Eve - Monday 31st December
Following your last breakfast of 2012, why not explore the hotel and surrounding area with the return of our popular Midland Treasure Hunt or, alternatively, join in the first round of the ‘virtual’ Midland Winter Olympics!
After a luxurious afternoon tea in our Sun Terrace, be sure to join concierge Brian Jenkins who will be pouring the bubbly and taking guests on a tour of this famous and iconic building, with fascinating insights into both the original Midland and the refurbishment that has restored this art deco masterpiece to its former glory.
Matt Stanaway, General Manager, and the team then welcome you to our New Year celebrations, beginning with a free-flowing champagne and canapé reception, followed by a superb jazz, boogie and swing dinner dance. Dress code for this evening is black tie with entertainment provided courtesy of Boogie Bill and his Billionaires, welcoming 2013 in style.
New Year’s Day – Tuesday 1st January 2013
This morning we will be serving a (very) leisurely breakfast until 11am in our stunning Sun Terrace, followed by exclusive access to Morecambe’s famous Winter Gardens for a tour with our local guide. Then, assemble your teams and join us for a ‘pub lunch’ and the return of our ever-popular festive pub quiz in the Terrace Restaurant, followed by a special Midland edition of Ready Steady Cook where 2 lucky guests will be able to work with the chefs in producing 2 wonderful dishes ‘against the clock’.
The world’s press and assorted dignitaries will then (possibly) be joining us for our Winter Olympics Grand Final. However, we predict that events may very well take a turn for the worse shortly thereafter during our Murder Mystery dinner, where it will be up to budding amateur sleuths to unveil the culprit of a murder most foul!
