Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre, with its extensive range of equipment and an inspiring setting against a backdrop of the Lakeland fells is a great location for getting out on the water. We offer a wide variety of watersports instruction and boat hire suitable for all ages and abilities.
Instruction & Hire
We offer instruction in dinghy and keelboat sailing, canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing, wakeboarding and powerboating, and have available for hire motor boats and rowing boats, sailing dinghies and keelboats, sit-on-top kayaks and open canoes.
Parking & Facilities
Our facilities include free parking, changing rooms and showers, equipment hire and a shop selling refreshments and watersports equipment.

Our motor boat and rowing boat hire allow you to explore England’s largest lake at your own pace and experience the breathtaking views only available from being out on the water. We offer both informal and formal tuition and are recognised by the Royal Yachting Association to offer the Level One, Level Two and Safety Boat courses, and by British Water Ski and Wakeboard to offer the Ski Boat Drivers Award.

Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre is a recognised training centre for the RYA and offers courses from the National Sailing Scheme, Youth Sailing Scheme, Powerboating Scheme and First Aid.
British Canoe Union
Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre is an approved centre for the BCU and offers awards from the Paddlepower and Star Test schemes.
British Water Ski & Wakeboard
Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre is registered to offer the Ski Boat Driver Level 2 award.
Adventure Activities Licensing Authority
Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre is registered with The Adventure Activities Licensing Service as licensed to provide specified activities under the following headings: watersports. Licence details can be confirmed by calling The Licensing Service on 029 2075 5715. Registration number: L9072/R0178.
South Lakeland District Council
Our boats and operators are licensed and inspected by SLDC as required under the Public Health Act 1907, Section 94.
