At Waterhead we like to keep a keen eye open for what is going on in the art world round about us. This weekend is the start of a fantastic solo exhibition by a local artist.
Expressions of Weather and Moon
“Northern Sights” is a new exhibition by Lake District artist, Daniel Cooper. The special three week solo show, hosted by the Old Courthouse Gallery in Ambleside, will feature many new and unseen original artworks, alongside limited edition prints.
This is Daniel’s last solo show of the year and it includes a collection of expressive charcoal drawings on canvas, studies of the moon and local landscape paintings of dramatic evening weather around The Lakes. The Old Courthouse Gallery has represented Daniel for several years, who said,
“It is a privilege to show in such a beautiful gallery in the heart of the Lake District, this exhibition will be showing my latest work, made throughout 2018”.
Daniel lives in South Cumbria and his art reflects the sublime weather in the Lake District National Park and Cumbrian landscape, home to arguably some of the most beautiful views in England. Using locally sourced charcoal and mixed media, Daniel observes reality imaginatively, and aims to communicate the ever changing moods of the land and skies through personal involvement with the landscape. Daniel is currently artist in residence at Brantwood, former home of John Ruskin.
Northern Sights begins with a public preview on the 15th September at 1 pm and the exhibition is open every day until 7th October 2018.
