Wedding Hair & Make Up: The most stunning combinations

Looking stunning on your wedding day is a given, we've got our favourite wedding make up and hair combinations to help you feel beautiful on your big day.

We've put together our top recommendations for hair and make-up combinations, with the help of Sam from The Hair Sanctuary and  Lancaster House Hotel. Whether you're a 'boho bride' or a 'sophisticated bride', we've got top tips for you...

Natural and Neutral

Hair

We absolutely love this look, it's a mix of understated glamour, natural beauty and romance. Perfect for brides who are going for a subtle look.

Sam, The Hair Sanctuary, recommends "curls are soft and flattering, they're great for the undone- up do. A natural romantic look."

Make-up

A natural and romantic hair style can only be matched with warm and bright tones. Have fun with your eye shadow, go for something a little dramatic and bold to make your eyes stand out. Adding shimmer to the corners of your eyes will make them seem wider and brighter as well. Pair enhanced eyes with a popping-pink lipstick and subtle blusher.

Bohemian Bride

Hair

The 'boho bride' look has come back into fashion, soft and loose waves paired with fresh flowers makes for a relaxed yet elegant look. This style suits brides who are more in touch with nature and teams nicely with a simple-style dress.

Sam from The Hair Sanctuary at Lancaster House Hotel advises "this year fresh flowers are making a big come back and work well with boho soft waves."

Make up

A natural and relaxed hair style can only be matched with a monochromatic make up palette. Defined brows and the use of brown shadows allow eyes to be embolden without going for the 'full glamour' look. Team with a peach lip to give your complexion a soft definition. This look is fresh and stunning, it works particularly well with a vintage dress.

Simply Sophisticated

Hair

Sophisticated styles are back in fashion, especially with the marriage of several royals and A-list celebrities in the last couple of years. This 'wrap style' is stunning paired with hair accessories and shines sophistication but elegant glamour.

Make Up

To keep this style tasteful, we recommend going for neutral make up. Slightly enhanced brows, a touch of shimmer on the eyes and soft, matte, brown shadow is sultry but elegant. Pair with subtle contouring and a nude lipstick for true sophistication.

Fairy-tale Romance

Hair

Every bride wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day, the fairy-tale style is every little girls dream come true. Over-sized braids or curls creates a true Disney princess look, this style bursts with romance and beauty. Adding hair gems finishes this hair style with a true 'sweet heart' touch.

Sam, from The Hair Sanctuary, highlights "gem hair accessories work well with vintage dresses".

Make up

With a hair-style fit for a Disney princess, you can only have make up fit for a queen. Brighter lips draws attention to a beautiful smile, compliment with a pink to peach blusher for a stylish and 'red-carpet' look. With this in mind, eye shadow should be kept relatively neutral, make eyes standing out with a lengthening mascara or the addition of false eye-lashes.

Golden Goddess

Hair

We adore this heavenly look, a halo of plaited hair is complimented by a loose fringe to shape the face. Merging the plaits into a low bun gives a graceful look to this golden bride. This look can also be altered to a 'half-up half-down' style by fixing the plaits and letting the hair drop down with a soft wave.

Hayley, our bride-to-be, says "I have picked a half-up half-down style, my hair will be curled but will incorporate a plait. I always wear my hair down so I wanted something different but didn't want it fully up."

Make up

Continuing with the goddess theme, choose a make up combination with polished brows, tones of gold or copper shadow and subtle contour to elevate cheek bones and jaw line. Lips want to be neutral to leave a fresh and glowing complexion, go for nude or pale pink shades.
