This course covers all you need to know about sailing with conventional or asymmetric spinnakers.
RYA Sailing with Spinnakers
This course is aimed at sailors with sailing experience and background knowledge equivalent to the standard of or possessing the Level 2 Basic Skills certificate. After the course sailors should be able to use one type of spinnaker, conventional or asymmetric.
Sailors will be taught how to:
- Rig the boat
- Gybe
- How to recover one type of spinnaker (either conventional or asymmetric)
- How to sail the best possible course downwind

Arrival
The course dates show your actual activity days and the course will run from 10:00 to around 16:30 each day. There will be a break for lunch at a convenient time. Please arrive at 9.30 on your first day to book into the centre.
What to Bring
We recommend that you bring:
- Plenty of warm clothing (quick drying fleece & thermals are ideal)
- Swimming costume
- Towel
- Trainers or wetsuit boots
- Hat & gloves
- Sunglasses & sun cream
- Flask or water bottle
Lunch
Lunch is not supplied however those attending courses at The Watersports Centre are eligible for a discount of 10% off food at the Langdale Lounge at Low Wood Bay. Alternatively candidates can bring their own lunch.
Age Limits
This course is aimed at those aged 14 years or over.
