Since lockdown was lifted, The Midland in Morecambe has experienced a strong bounce back in business. We’ve been thrilled to welcome great numbers of the British public who have chosen to Staycation this year. There are echoes of the 1950s and 60s when the British seaside drew fun seekers for a holiday with the simple pleasures of sun, sand and sea.
Mark Needham, General Manager at The Midland Hotel, said “it’s great to see guests enjoying themselves at the venue once again. Occupancy is strong for the time of year which is heartening”.
"Sound planning has been crucial in ensuring guests at the Midland have the same enjoyable experience they were used to before Covid-19, but in the safest way of course."
Morecambe Bid has been running a campaign over the summer to encourage folk back to the area. Simple Pleasures aims to promote the simple pleasure of switching off the phone and reconnecting with family and friends - walking and cycling, playing in the sea and on the beach.
Ice Cream, Cold Beer and Frozen Cocktails
The Midland have certainly been getting creative when it comes to their seaside offering. Impromptu BBQs outside the Rotunda have provided a beautiful aroma drawing in those walking the promenade. Our Burger & Beer went down a treat. On a hot summer’s day there’s nothing more refreshing than a Frozen Cocktail such as Frozen Strawberry Daquiris.
Safe distance queuing was the order of the day for our fresh and fruity ice creams from the terrace at The Rotunda. British Strawberries and Ice Cream, or our very own Ice Cream Sandwich with freshly made cookies from the kitchen. Mmm what’s not to love!
Seaside Holidays Here to Stay
As the summer days give way to a slightly cooler sea breeze, we are grateful that the Great British Seaside holiday is once again firmly on the map!
