English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues is a warm and welcoming family business which runs three wonderful hotels, Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa and Wild Boar Estate near Windermere in the Lake District, and Lancaster House Hotel in Lancaster.

Our hotel group was established in 1953 and had been owned and run by five generations of the Berry family since then.  The ethos of our business is as much about the wider family of our workforce, its local communities and the guests and visitors who come to enjoy our venues.

Our family and company values are based on respect, creativity and fun, helping us to build strong relationships with our colleagues, suppliers and guests.  And we are always seeking ways to support our surrounding communities, their heritage and the local environment in a sustainable way.

The hospitality and customer service we provide for our guests is underpinned by a strong focus on workforce career development and training.

This includes the English Lakes Hotels Culinary Academy chef apprenticeship programme run in partnership with Kendal College, as well as our Leadership and Development programme which gives rising stars a career development pathway into executive management.

Our personal development fund allows team members to upskill existing talents, develop their career skills or broaden their horizons, with training programmes or courses mutually agreed in most disciplines.

The aim is to get the best out of all our teams and give everybody the opportunity to progress in their career choices.  It also helps to engender a stronger work life balance for our employees.
