There has never been a more pressing time to adopt environmental and sustainable practices. We strive to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage others to follow our initiatives to create a brighter and healthier future for all.

Green Key Accreditation

As the tourism industry grows in the UK, so does its impact on the environment. English Lakes Hotels, Resorts & Venues actively promote sustainability and conservation in the Lake District and Lancashire. We hope to maintain the outstanding natural beauty for future visitors and locals through our 'green plan'.

The Green Key accreditation is an internationally recognised accreditation which celebrates 'environmental excellence'. The accreditation provides us with a guide which encourages us to adopt more sustainability activities in the long term. It has enabled us to create a long term 'green plan' for the group.

Green Key initiatives:

Environment

As a Green Key holder we've introduced initiatives to protect the environment in several ways including planting for wildlife, recycling, automatic lights and supporting renewable energy. Small changes all make a big difference.

Education

Education is at the heart of Green Key. We are proud to share our sustainability initiatives and incentives with staff and guests. By sharing we are educating and encouraging others to adopt good environmental practices.

Savings

By making the right environmental choices, we are reducing our energy and water usage which reduces our carbon footprint.

Strengthening

Green Key businesses are collectively taking responsibility for the environment. There is strength in numbers and if each Green Key member makes small changes in their process, collectively we will make a great difference.
