A Lancashire wedding to cherish for Chelsea and John

For a wedding, you would be hard pressed to beat Lancaster House Hotel as the ideal venue for a wedding in Lancashire.

With the splendid backdrop of the hotel’s spacious grounds and the venue’s classically designed and dressed wedding event rooms, you will instantly feel at home.

Add to that the unwavering support of a highly professional wedding co-ordination team and you can see why so many couples choose Lancaster House Hotel for a stylish and elegant Lancashire wedding.

The venue certainly turned the heads of Chelsea and John Short who tied the knot there in the early summer of 2025.

The couple are from Barrow-in-Furness but have local connections with Chelsea’s father living in Morecambe.  When they saw Lancaster House Hotel and what it could offer for their wedding ceremony and party, they instantly fell in love with the magical feeling of the place.

A dream Lancashire wedding in the making

Chelsea’s dream Lancashire wedding was in the planning for over three years.  When the couple made their preliminary enquiries about the wedding services provision at Lancaster House Hotel, they were introduced to the wedding co-ordination team.  Together they pored over Chelsea’s plans and step by step brought them to a reality for the big day.

Chelsea’s ideas and meticulous planning included working with photographer Becky Goligy, videographer Matt Williamson and wedding and events content creator Sheridan Powell to ensure that their big day was perfectly captured for posterity. Steve the cartoonist and DJ Ian Cank added to the merriment and entertainment on the day.

She also wanted to provide a series of personal touches to ensure her day with John was truly unique.

Her pure dedication shone through, ensuring the night before that every little detail was taken care of.  Mock up newspapers placed on guests' seats at the ceremony featured Chelsea and John’s love story, including how they met and how their little boy Rory joined the family.

Another lovely touch from Chelsea was a surprise pre-recorded ‘voice note’ for John, played just before she met him at the aisle.  Her designated wedding co-ordinator Lauren tested it secretly beforehand to ensure it worked and no-one knew about it until it happened.

Wedding capacity at Lancaster House Hotel

Over 100 wedding guests in all travelled from far and wide to celebrate with the couple, including from Brighton, Nottingham, Barrow-in-Furness, Scotland, and of course closer to home from Morecambe.

So the Dalton Suite where Chelsea and John's ceremony took place, as well as the Bowland Suite which hosted their wedding breakfast and evening wedding reception party, made for the perfect atmosphere.

"We had the most magical day.  As soon as we arrived on the Saturday, the staff all made us feel so welcome.  And Lauren and Lisa on the wedding team, and Luke on reception too, were nothing short of amazing for us.

“Kevin did an amazing job with the room the night before and with breakfast the next morning.  Nothing was ever too much trouble. The whole day was like a fairytale and could not have gone any more smoothly.

"We can’t thank the whole of the Lancaster House Hotel staff enough for all they did across the whole weekend – and for all the little bits of extra care and attention we received.  We were even able to get a room set up for 15 of us to all eat together the night before the wedding, catering for all the kids too.

"The food throughout our stay was insanely good and was commented on all day during the wedding.  A massive thank you to the team for making my dreams a reality!  We are so excited to come back already.”

Working with the Lancaster House Hotel wedding team

A key element in the smooth running of Chelsea and John’s big day was the ability of the hotel’s wedding team to work seamlessly with the videographer, photographer and content creator - without meeting them beforehand.  This meant carefully going over the detailed itinerary of the day and getting an accurate picture of timings.

The wedding co-ordinators guided them to all the best spots for the photoshoots around Lancaster House Hotel’s grounds and buildings.

“When I first saw the video footage afterwards with my Mum and Dad, the bridesmaids and our little boy, it was perfect.  My videographer Matt, photographer Becky and content creator Sheridan worked amazingly together.  They didn’t miss a beat throughout and I’m so grateful to them all.”

Chelsea

“Chelsea and John’s wedding day was nothing short of spectacular. From the chocolate fountain and popcorn machine that delighted guests, to the magical sparkler and dry ice effects during their first dance, every detail created unforgettable memories for all who were lucky enough to be part of their special day.

“It was a pleasure working closely with Chelsea and John.  And Chelsea’s father, Lee as well, who also generously gifted us with some beautiful wedding items from the big day which other couples can use for future weddings. The atmosphere on the day was filled with so much love and happiness.”
