Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa has recently completed the refurbishment of its staff canteen and rest area.

English Lakes Hotels has invested around £70,000 in the improvement project to give team members at the resort a more contemporary area in which to relax, dine and socialise in between and around their shifts

Open 24/7 for all team members across Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa, the newly refurbished canteen features modern and comfortable extended seating areas, a hot and cold servery, vending machine options and new toilet facilities.

The new food and drink servery offers a revised offering with a wider selection of meals from which resort staff can choose.  This includes a fresh salad bar with different healthy options each day and a varied selection of traditional and international hot dishes.

General manager at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa Mark Needham
This has been an important project to ensure that our team members have a great quality of food and drink service both whilst on shift and for the team members that live on site. It’s a place where they can come to relax from the rigours of the working day, put their feet up and socialise with colleagues in a home from home environment.

As well as professional training and development opportunities, the hotel group offers employees free meals whilst on duty at its venues, with subsidised food and drink outside of shift hours. and a limited amount of staff accommodation.

Most of the refurbishment work was undertaken by Grange-over-Sands based building firm Oakden Ltd. The project took six weeks to complete including extensive electrical, plumbing and joinery works, all completed to schedule.

The challenge was to provide a functional space for food service, whilst at the same time creating a place where staff feel comfortable simply having a relaxing coffee break at any time of the day.
