And with a Lancastrian twist, tuck in to a tasty Scottish dinner including our very own Lancashire Haggis.

Beyond the Scottish borders, the origins of Haggis have been widely debated, with historic connections to the Romans, the Vikings and France.

The Lancastrian claim to inventing the Haggis may be somewhat tongue in cheek and just a little joke to share with our Scottish friends on Burns Night, but there is some mystery and intrigue around the idea.

A Lancashire recipe book called Liber Cure Cocorum, dating to around the mid-1400s, is considered by some locals to be the first written description of a ‘hagese’ meal lovingly produced from offal and herbs.

Lancaster House Hotel’s haggis offers a contemporary take on original recipes and celebrates the red rose county’s connections with our Scottish cousins.

The City of Lancaster has a rich depth of Anglo-Scottish history too. As young pretender seeking to restore the Stuart dynasty to the throne, Bonnie Prince Charlie reportedly stayed in Lancaster during his march south in 1745, with his Jacobite army proclaiming him Regent during his brief visit. He was back not long afterwards on his retreat north and to ultimate defeat at the Battle of Culloden.

And earlier still in 1322, Robert the Bruce famously sacked Lancaster and its castle during his campaigns and raids against the English.

Let the bagpipes play and the tartan sway—Burns Night at Lancaster House is not to be missed!
