Holker Hall & Gardens

Indeed, the gardens are one of the most delightful aspects of a visit to Holker, with an impressive collection of trees, shrubs and flowers that provide an ever changing kaleidoscope of texture and colour.

Holker is one of the nation’s best-loved stately homes and contains a wealth of history and yet a friendly lived-in atmosphere. The estate has been passed through the generations from as far back as the 16^th Century, surviving a disastrous fire in 1871 from which it was lovingly brought back to life. It is the west wing of the house that is open to the public, the rooms being spacious and grand, a magnificent example of Victorian style and craftsmanship.
