Lancaster House proudly presents its Lancashire Afternoon Tea. Showcasing some of the best of the county’s award-winning local produce from farms, coast and countryside.

Showcasing some of the best of the county’s award-winning local produce from farms, coast and countryside. Damian Ng, Head Chef of Lancaster House, himself a Lancashire lad, is passionate about the highest quality, lowest food mile products and ingredients.

The Lancashire Afternoon Tea takes us on a culinary tour around the Red Rose County where we discover the unfolding story of the history, culture and creativity of the food and drink for which the region is famed. We call it ‘Reet Good Lanky Scran’.

In acknowledgement and respect for Lancashire’s cotton spinning and weaving heritage, the Afternoon Tea is served on a bespoke two-tier slate stand supported by four original cotton bobbins.

Bakery

The kitchens at Lancaster House have been filled with the fresh home-baked aroma of our signature cheese scones, traditional Ginger Parkin and Lancashire Courting Cake. Adding to our Afternoon Tea sweet treats, Fil Duirwyn of Filbert’s Bakery in Lancaster makes the best Chocolate and Peanut Brownie we’ve ever tasted!

 

Butcher & Fishmonger

Seddens of Preston are butchers that know exactly where their meat comes from, and visit local farms and auction houses regularly to check the quality of livestock. Healthy animals and low food miles guaranteed.

Frank Benson’s Morecambe Bay shrimps are world renowned. Frank is one of a handful of highly specialised local fishermen who shrimp using traditional methods passed down through generations. You don’t get any fresher or more authentic than this.

The Port of Lancaster Smokehouse’s vital ingredient is time – the shorter the time from the catch to the Smokehouse, the more sumptuous the flavour; the longer the smoking process the richer the flavour. One thing’s for sure, you will want to savour every moment and mouthful of their beautiful smoked salmon.

 

Cheese

Mrs Kirkham of Beesley Farm, Goosnargh believes that happy cows are the recipe for great cheese. Milk from her 100 strong herd of happy Holstein Fresians are the key ingredient of her tasty cheese. Incorporated with her Red Onion Marmalade, this Afternoon Tea quiche is mouth-wateringly good.

Cheese that is this good deserves a second mention, and Mrs Kirkham’s crumbly cheese is also used in our cheesy scones baked right here in the kitchen of Lancaster House.

 

Pies

The Galloway family from Wigan have been specialising in Lancashire Butter Pie for over thirty years. They’ve produced a miniature version of this traditional Lancashire favourite because our Afternoon Tea would not be the same without it.

Although not strictly a pie, we mention the Bury Black Pudding Scotch Egg here because it comes from the Happy Belly Pie Company. Brendan Baury is passionate about elevating the humble Scotch Egg. Wrapped in award-winning Bury black pudding, we think he’s hit the jackpot.

To compliment our pies and pastries we have selected condiments and preserves from the Award Winning Reedy's of Blackburn.

 

Choice of Drinks

As well as your choice of loose leaf tea, or freshly brewed coffee, for an extra special experience, you can choose a Lancaster House cocktails incorporating a selection of Sandeman Ports, or a taste of Sandeman Ports to include Ruby, Tawny, White and LBV.

 

Local Residents Discount Card

English Lakes Relish Card is a local residents discount card the holders of which can enjoy a guaranteed 10% discount off all meals and drinks within the excellent choice of English Lakes restaurants. Additionally cardholders can enjoy some really great seasonal special offers.
