The Wild Boar has a long earned reputation for classic British cuisine and the smokehouse, open kitchen and chef’s table add a little more theatre to the overall dining experience. A highly commended wine list, over 100 single malt whiskies and a range of home-brewed ales help complete the package to celebrate Christmas in an extraordinary traditional location.

Christmas Eve

Sunday 24th December 2023

Arrival is from 3.00pm and, once you have settled into your room, we invite you to sample a glass of homemade mulled wine, meet our management team who will be hosting your festive celebrations and enjoy The Wild Boar’s take on afternoon tea in our Grill and Smokehouse Restaurant. Following this, why not treat yourself to a drink in the bar by one of our open fires.

Tonight, following a glass of bubbly and a canapé or two, we will be serving a ‘Hog and Ale buffet’ dinner and our popular Wild Quiz then follows with prizes for winners and bribes gratefully accepted by our Wild Quiz Master.

A nightcap by one of our roaring fires will round off what we are sure will be a most enjoyable and memorable Christmas celebration at The Wild Boar Inn.

Christmas Day

Monday 25th December 2023

A very special guest will be waiting to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and offer a chilled glass of something bubbly prior to a hearty Lakeland Grill.

You are then invited to join Adam Bujok our General Manager for our falconry static display hosted by Popeye and Elsa, our resident birds of prey from our friends at Lake District Falconry! Guests are also invited to an archery competition in the Wild Boar Woods.

Return for a piping hot glass of our homemade mulled wine and then join us for the main event of the day - our traditional Christmas Day lunch that our brigade of chefs have been busy preparing all morning.

This afternoon, guests have the opportunity to relax, enjoy some of the gifts that Father Christmas has delivered and soak up the atmosphere that only Christmas at The Wild Boar can bring. Tonight, begins with a delicious yuletide buffet and no Christmas at ‘The Boar’ would be complete without our Gingerbread House Making Competition and this year is no exception – following 2022’s winning entry, the gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down and prizes await this year’s most eye-catching creations, alternatively festive films and games in our ‘Undermillbeck’ or perhaps just the option to sit back and relax in front of one of our roaring fires as Christmas Day 2023 draws to a close.

The conclusion of our Christmas package is of course a traditional Cumbrian breakfast and a fond farewell with best wishes for the year ahead.

Single Occupancy Supplement

Children’s Rates

3 Years and under are accommodated free of charge.

4 – 15 years sharing a room with two full paying adults are charged £375.00.

Children occupying their own room are charged at the full adult price.

Additional Nights

23^rd and 26^th December to be charged on special BB rates available for all package guests from £119.00 per night.
