"Wild" New Year 2023/24
The Wild Boar has a long-earned reputation for classic British cuisine and the smokehouse, open kitchen and chef’s table add a little more theatre to the overall dining experience. Your room will be ready from 3pm and, once settled in, our management team welcome you to our New Year celebrations with our famous Wild Boar Festive Afternoon Tea and a piping hot glass of mulled wine.
Tonight, we will be serving a very special Cumbrian Festive Hog Roast and Ale buffet, showcasing some of the very best ingredients from both our favourite Lakeland suppliers and our own on-site Wild Boar Smokehouse and brewery!
Following this, we then give you the chance to become a Wild Boar ‘Highflyer’ as we host our annual Casino Night. We’ll even provide you with a generous amount of Wild Boar currency to begin a night of blackjack and roulette with prizes awarded for the highest earners!
New Year’s Eve
Sunday 31st December
A hearty late breakfast is the perfect start to the last day of 2023 and following this we have arranged for a morning of clay pigeon shooting, together with our resident Harris Hawks from our friends at Lake District Falconry in our woods. Shooting will be suitable for all, whether you are a beginner or an expert and with the help of our resident sharp shooter Mike, everyone should hit at least one clay.
Following a light lunch in anticipation of the festivities ahead, join us in our Restaurant for the return of our popular Champagne tasting courtesy of our friends at Laurent Perrier – the perfect way to spend an afternoon and perhaps decide which bottle of bubbly you might like to help welcome in 2024 later this evening!
Tonight’s celebrations begin with a champagne and canapé reception followed by traditional black tie seven course gala dinner prepared by our brigade of chefs who will have been working throughout the day to ensure your last meal of 2023 is one to remember!
Our resident DJ will then get the party in full swing, count down the last moments of 2023 and welcome 2024 in style to chimes of Big Ben and the sound of popping corks and Auld Lang Syne!

Enjoy a traditional Lakeland breakfast before we reluctantly bid you a fond farewell and send you on your way with our very best wishes for the year ahead. However, for those of you who may wish to take advantage of our special rates for January 2023 (starting from £140 per room per night) and stay an extra night or two, why not relax by one of our roaring fires with your favourite tipple and enjoy a suitably relaxing start to 2024!
2023 New Year Breaks Tariffs
Our 2 night package commencing on the 30th December, including all meals and entertainment as detailed, costs £550.00 per person in our classic room. £200.00 deposit required to confirm your reservation.
Single Occupancy
Single Occupancy Supplement £170.00 per room per night.
Room Upgrades
£40.00 per person per night in a Feature Room.
£55.00 per person per night in a Luxury Room.
Children’s Rates
Our New Year Package is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
12 – 15 years sharing a room with two full paying adults are charged £285.00.
Children 12 – 15 years occupying their own room are charged at the full adult price.
