When Tanya and Alex Wilson’s wedding plans were hit by the closure of their chosen venue, the team at Lancaster House Hotel quickly stepped in to ensure their dream day went smoothly.
The couple were over the moon with how it all panned out. Tanya takes up the story:

Alex and I first met 20 years ago after school one day. I’m from Heysham and he’s from Lancaster. We had dated initially for three years back then when we were both about 18. We went our separate ways for a while but then reconnected, had a baby and bought a house together!
The real reason for choosing Lancaster House Hotel was because our original venue went into administration just a few months before the big day. That really didn’t leave much time so we needed to switch to a trusted local wedding venue in Lancashire.
A key factor on our decision was that we didn’t have to change the date of our wedding as Lancaster House Hotel could accommodate us.
I’d say I loved the experience of shopping for a wedding dress the most, very exciting and taking a bit of time to find the right gown. Originally, I’d wanted us to go for a quiet elopement with just the two of us, but we decided to make a bigger day of it involving family and friends.
The Lancaster House Hotel wedding team were absolutely brilliant from start to finish! In the end it was a princess wedding Alex wanted and I planned it all with their help.
They were super efficient and fast with their communication on everything, so we always knew what was happening. We were also grateful that they were so flexible in moving things around to be able to accommodate such a big wedding at such short notice.
Nothing was too much trouble for them. If we needed anything they were straight on it. They helped with providing decorations to save me doing them and they were all put out exactly as I had imagined.
The breakfast in the morning was amazing. We arrived earlier from the church than expected on the day and knowing I was nervous about the formality of a drinks reception, they asked us if we wanted everybody in and seated to make things simpler. But the morning and ceremony had all gone so smoothly that I decided we should all have a bit of time to mingle.
Everybody, wedding team, bar staff and reception were all so professional and so helpful and polite.
I think the thing I'll cherish the most is how much I actually enjoyed the day when I had been worried that I might not fully enjoy it all and take it in. But I didn't have to worry about anything at all. Alex and I and our guests had the most fun and there was nothing but compliments from everybody attending.
I am honestly so grateful that our original venue closed. Otherwise, I don't think it would have turned out half as good as it did in the end. And the fact that Lancaster House Hotel is close to home definitely meant more family came, including my Grandma who is 101! And she loved it!

The rooms were beautiful and the fact that we were able to have breakfast and then enjoy some time in the pool and hot tub the day after really was a bonus. It meant we didn't feel like we were being rushed out. The team were incredible. I definitely needed their reassurance and they provided that every step of the way.
