Ten Ways to Relax at Low Wood Bay

Created Wednesday, July 10, 2019, by Tina Alexander

If relaxation is high on your list of priorities on holiday, we've got a few suggestions about how you can relax at Low Wood Bay.

Thermal Journey

This is three hours of total relaxation. Start your journey with fluffy bathrobe and slippers and a friendly welcome from Low Wood Bay’s Spatenders. Choose how you move around the different thermal experiences – indoor pool with thermal currents, bubble spa and relaxation lounge, dry salt room, herbal infusions, outdoor sauna and hot tubs and Fellside Pool with amazing views over the lake.

It’s easy to add to the experience by ordering lunch in Blue Smoke on the Bay or Afternoon Tea in Langdale Lounge or the Atrium.

Afternoon Tea

Low Wood Bay has re-written the quintessential English Afternoon Tea and brings you a lip-smacking alternative. Our heavy duty 4-tier pan-handled wood-fired feast has delicious sticky, smoky, savoury treats that are perfect for sharing with family and friends. Big on flavour and lots of fun!

Eat Healthy

Sometimes going on holiday means putting your healthy food choices on hold for a week or more. Not so at Low Wood Bay. Relax, knowing we have some extra healthy on-the-go options available. The team at Norman’s will whizz up a high energy juice, healthy smoothie or a vitamin-packed smoothie bowl. Everything is freshly prepared with the best ingredients and served in The Atrium, the sociable hub of the resort.

Explore the Lake

From Motorboats to Pedalos, you decide your pace. Our steering wheel controlled-motorboats have 6 hp engines and take up to six people. Perfect for taking a leisurely journey up Lake Windermere. There are public jetties along the eastern shore of the lake making it easy to explore Lake District villages and attractions.

Fancy a fishing trip? Our fleet includes fishing boats, again with 6 hp engines. We can also supply oars, an anchor and a fishing guide to Windermere, giving you the best chance of a catch of the day.

Discover 'The W'

Our latest culinary treats can be found in the relaxed and colourful surroundings of The W restaurant. With a spectacular view over the Lake, an extensive seasonal British and continental menu and a wine menu to suit every taste, this is a perfect place to wind down in the evening with loved ones.

Lost in the Lakes Spa Day

We have a whole host of Spa Days for you to choose from. Lost in the Lakes spa package is a great place to start.  Choose from one of three hour long treatments – Head to Toe Massage, Himalayan Salt Body Scrub, Total Face Treatment. The package also includes full use of the indoor and outdoor thermal Spa facilities, including Dry Salt, Coconut Steam, Herbal Infusions and the gentle currents of our Spa pool. Outdoors, enjoy stunning views over the lake in our Fellside pool, outdoor sauna and hot tubs. All this relaxing works up an appetite for Afternoon Tea or a 2-course Lunch. What’s not to love?

Lake District Walk

The Lake District is a spider’s web of amazing walks, high and low treks, beautiful panoramic views and scenic sites for a picnic stop.  Low Wood Bay has it’s very own circular walk from the doorstep. It’s approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km), and we recommend taking around 2 hours, plus extra for refreshments at Waterhead.  The circular path will lead you up the hill behind Low Wood Bay, through the local farm and along a bridle path to Jenkin Crag with a beautiful view down Lake Windermere. A short section through woods takes you down to our sister hotel, Waterhead, right by the lake. This is a perfect stopping off point for a coffee, cold drink or snack, before heading back along path and a short section of roadside to Low Wood Bay.

Massage

There is nothing like a massage to soothe, relax and revitalise. At The Spa at Low Wood Bay we have a comprehensive range of treatments, each one allowing you to personalise it to your preferences. In consultation with your therapist, get the best massage for you. Choose the type of pressure you would like – deep, medium or light. We also have a range of Berry & Birch and Espa body oils to best suit your needs. This is a bespoke approach to massage, putting you in charge.  Treatments are from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Take a look at Berry & Birch Tailor Made, ESPA Iconic Triple Treatment or Berry & Birch Body Melt, and many more.

The Mud Room

Mud sticks! But in the best way, in our Mud Room at Low Wood Bay. This is a private treatment for you and up to three others - perfect for couples and groups of friends. We use the best mineral-rich Dead Sea mud. Once you’ve had fun layering yourself and others with mud, the room is filled with steam. This opens up the pores in your skin, draws out and washes away the nasty toxins and allows your body to soak up the natural oils and minerals contained in the mud. Altogether, a fun and healthy activity that leaves you feeling refreshed and revitalised.

Best Night’s Sleep

At Low Wood Bay we do everything we can to make your stay at the hotel as comfortable as possible. This is particularly true when it comes to the quality of your sleep. Your snuggly towelling robes are freshly laundered on site. Our Turndown Service will offer you some Tea Pigs Snooze sleep tea, a delicious blend of apple, lavender and chamomile to help aid a good night’s sleep.

Our quality mattresses are to our own bespoke design, and manufactured by Feathers & Springs, a local family business.  Add a little spray of White Company pillow mist with hints of lavender, again supplied by our Turndown Service and you are ready for a relaxing sleep. See you at breakfast!
