Windermere Boat Hire

Experience the breathtaking views only available from being out on the water. Public jetties along the eastern shore allow you to get off the boat and explore the lakeside towns, or stop off for lunch.

COVID-19 Restrictions

This activity is now currently available to book. Please note that due to our COVID-19 safety policy there will be restrictions on use including the following:

• Hire duration is limited to half day hire only (4 hours)

• Pre-bookings are essential

• Instruction is not available so all guests must be competent and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult

Boat Hire

Our motor boat hire allow you to explore Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake at your own pace.


Motor Boat Hire 

Our motorboats have a 6hp outboard engine and controlled by a steering wheel, which can take up to six people

Prices include buoyancy aids and fuel. Minimum age to hire the boat is 18 years old and you must be 16 years old to drive the boat.


Fishing Boat Hire

Our fishing boats have the same 6hp outboard engine as our motorboats, They are ideal for your fishing trip. Hire one for two hours or more and we will also provide a set of oars so you can get closer to the shore, an anchor and a fishing guide to Windermere.

Hotel residents can enjoy a discount of 10% at Low Wood Bay Watersports.


Parking & Facilities

Our facilities include parking, changing rooms and showers, equipment hire and a shop selling refreshments and watersports equipment.


Webcam & Weather Station

Visit our weather station page to find out the current weather conditions in and around the lake. The webcam page provides users  with a selection of pre-selected views from which to choose from, allowing users limited control over the camera.
