Canoe & Kayak Hire on Windermere

Canoeing and kayaking are two of the most thrilling things to do in the Lake District. With the beautiful Lake Windermere right on our doorstep, it’s a unique way to enjoy the outdoors whilst experiencing an exciting sport.

COVID-19 Restrictions

This activity is now currently available to book. Please note that due to our COVID-19 safety policy there will be restrictions on use including the following:

• Hire duration is limited to a minimum of 2 hours

• Pre-bookings are essential

• Instruction is not available so all guests must be competent and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult

Kayak & Canoe Hire

Canoes and kayaks are versatile and agile craft, with a real go-anywhere ability. We have a range of modern craft at the centre, with sit-on-top kayaks, and open canoes.


Sit-on-Top Kayak Hire

Sit-on-top kayaks are easy to paddle and incredibly stable; and if you do manage to capsize it, you just fall off – so no worries about getting trapped in the boat.

Price includes buoyancy aids.

There is no minimum age to hire the boat, however there must be someone at least 18 years old on the water to supervise.

Open Canoe Hire

Traditional canoeing in Windermere is a relaxing experience that you can enjoy in a pair or a trio. Though you will need a it of teamwork and co-ordination!

There is no minimum age to hire the boat, however there must be someone at least 18 years old on the water to supervise.

Hotel residents can enjoy a discount of 10% at Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre.


Parking & Facilities

Our facilities include parking, changing rooms and showers, equipment hire and a shop selling refreshments and watersports equipment.
