Kayak & Canoe Hire
With the beautiful Lake Windermere right on our doorstep, it’s a unique way to enjoy the outdoors whilst experiencing an exciting sport.
Canoes and kayaks are versatile and agile craft, with a real go-anywhere ability. We have a range of modern craft at Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre, with sit-on-top kayaks and open canoes available to hire.
The centre is located on the Windermere shoreline, just a short 5 minute drive from Windermere or Ambleside. Hirers can make use of free parking on site for the duration of their hire period.
Sit-on-Top Kayak Hire
Explore lake Windermere onboard one of our sit-on-top kayaks. Sit-on-top kayaks are easy to paddle and incredibly stable; and if you do manage to capsize it, you just fall off, then climb back onboard the kayak..
We offer both single and double Sit-on-top Kayaks for hire. The hire price includes buoyancy aids.

There is no minimum age to hire the boat, however there must be someone at least 18 years old on the water to supervise.
Open Canoe Hire
Open canoeing on Windermere is a relaxing experience that you can enjoy in a pair or a trio. Though you will need a bit of teamwork and co-ordination! Explore the lake at your own pace. There's plenty to see and take in along the Windermere shoreline as well as the panoramic Lake District views afforded from the lake.
