The Starting Point - Lancaster City Museum

The city of Lancaster has a rich ancient history with royal connections. Start the Treasure Trail outside the City Museum and simply follow the detailed directions that lead to clues to puzzles that need to be solved. The trail is signposted through the city and if you get really stuck, you will be given a number to text to request the answer so that nobody need be stumped.

Half Day Mini Adventure

Lancaster Castle

You can take your time, there’s no clock ticking, but the trail is just under 2 miles and it takes around 2 hours to complete.

There's lots to see and to learn from the places you will discover, but the map also gives some interesting historical facts. Who knew, for example, that Lord Ashton was the 9th richest man in the world at the time and, in 1885, he invited all male adults for ten miles around to breakfast at his place? Over 10,000 accepted!

Real treasure, but not doubloons

Lancaster, a city full of historical interest

When you have followed the 13 Direction boxes, worked out the answers to the 20 Clues and learned a host of interesting facts, there is a potential prize at the end of the trail, although not the hidden bag of gold variety. Submit your answers on line as instructed and you could be the winner of the £100 draw.  The real treasure is a fun and interesting couple of hours in our beautiful historic city.
