Low Wood Watersports – Kara’s Help for Heroes Adventure
In the third blog of our series on Help for Heroes and North East Military Vehicle Club trip to The Lake District and their visit to Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre, Kara shares her experience of being part of last year’s Lake District adventure.
I am Cpl Sennett and I served just under 17 years in the Royal Logistic Corps with the postal and courier trade. I had only been under 4BDE Personal Recovery unit a month when I was asked if I wanted to go away for a week with Help for Heroes and the North East Military Vehicles Club.
Well, it certainly was one of the best weeks I’d had in a very long time! Having suffering with injuries and mental health issues, I was very dubious that I was going to enjoy being away. However, the group was fantastic. It was relaxing, entertaining, exciting, fun and many more emotions were brought to the surface during the week.
The north east military vehicles club were absolutely fantastic and made us all feel so welcome. Doris and Dave did so much for us all ensuring we all were ok and that we were having a good time. We drove around the gorgeous Lake District in WWII vehicles, which was a real honour.
We did some exciting water sports activities at Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre, including Flyboarding, which is not as easy as it looks!
Climbing Via Ferrata Xtreme at Honister Slate Mine was also on the itinerary, with some very scary heights. I managed to take a photo whilst still holding on very tight.
I made some friends for life and I have so much thanks for the North East military vehicles club especially Doris and Dave for all the hard work to bring a massive event like that together.
