Your First Day

We want you to have a great first day and enjoy your time with our family here at English Lakes Hotels.

Your First Day

We know the first day at work can bring a mix of emotions from apprehension to excitement and sometimes anxiety for the day ahead. Don’t worry we’ve all been there so we’ll make sure a Line Manager and plenty of colleagues will be on hand to welcome you and settle you in. You’ll get to know the team, find your way around, learn how to access our Culture Hub and much more. Don’t worry if you don’t remember everything on the first day, we’ll be here for you as long as you need.  We want you to have a great first day and enjoy your time with our family here at English Lakes Hotels.

What to wear and presentation

At English Lakes Hotels, we pride ourselves on image. We present our image and brand in many different ways, through our style of service, social media, our facilities and experiences, but most importantly through you.

You’ll notice that teams in various areas of the company dress differently, to suit their work environment. We always provide uniforms which are practical, but present our team members in the best possible way. We ask that you wear your uniform with pride and adhere to our Dress and Appearance Policy at all times.

Breaks and Welfare Facilities

Whether you work part time or full time hours, you are still entitled to a break during your shift. We want you to use this time to grab some fresh air and take some well-earned rest away from your work area.

You’ll be shown the welfare area where you can grab a drink, eat your food or just chill for a while. It’s also a great place to catch up with your new colleagues, catch up on phone messages or check in with a loved one to tell them how your day is going.

Induction and Training

On your first day, you’ll be getting familiar with your surroundings. We want you to stay safe and in turn keep your colleagues and our guests safe. A Line Manager will walk you through some Health and Safety and Fire training, show you how to access our Culture Hub, where you can find things such as company news, training modules and much more.

We’ll also help you complete some essential information such as payroll and emergency contact forms. Depending on how the day progresses, you may start some on the job training, but don’t worry we provide ongoing training and support throughout your first 11 weeks of employment to help guide you.
