The spa team at Low Wood Bay has received a boost with the addition of four new recruits working as spa co-ordinators.

Low Wood Bay Bolsters Spa Team With New Co-ordinators

The new members of the team have come from outside the hotel group, with moves into the hospitality and catering industry from the retail and childcare sectors.

Millie Stephenson from Kendal, Katie Oston from Burton-in-Kendal, Lora McKenzie from Windermere and Holly Kitchin from Lancaster are the newest members of the team.

Meanwhile, Kerry Park, Alex Salehi and Lucy Barron have all made internal moves within the hotel to become spa co-ordinators and complete the team recruitment to meet the increasing demand for spa services at Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa.

Meet the New Members Of The Low Wood Bay Spa Team

Holly studied at Lancaster and Morecambe College to attain her Level 2 qualification as Air cabin crew and has also trained as a Barista, having worked at Costa Coffee and in a range of customer service roles.

Katie meanwhile has a BA Hons degree in Community, Social Work: Policy and Practice and before joining the hotel group was working in childcare at a local nursery.  Lora joins the hotel team having completed her studies at Newcastle University.

Millie’s previous work experience has included working at festivals and events. This is her first role since finishing her studies at Manchester University.

"I was looking for a new career move and when I saw the spa jobs advertised at English Lakes Hotels, I thought it would be exactly the right sort of challenge for me, Since becoming spa co-ordinators, we’ve been offered a wide range of training, from learning the ins and outs of the spa to ways we can enhance guest experiences, particularly on special occasions. During our first few weeks, we’ve also had the chance to work with different members of the team across the spa and the resort.  We have also received continued support from our management team as we learn and develop in our new roles."

Key Aspects Of The Spa Co-ordinator’s Role

Our spa co-ordinators are trained to look for every opportunity to add value to our customers’ stay with us and help make amazing memories for guests. From VIPs and personal tours and service, they look out for guests who have come to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries, plus any way they can make their day feel that extra special.

There is great variety in the role too. A key part of their job is to act as a facilitator between other members of the spa team and the wider hotel to ensure that everyone knows the plan for the working day ahead and that everyone is prepared for the schedule.

The spa co-ordinator role comes with a range of responsibilities, including building strong relationships with the hotel’s reception and reservation teams, maintaining an exceptionally high level of quality and hygiene standards throughout the facilities and communicating any outstanding issues for improvement with relevant team members.

It requires flexibility and a range of skills, from reception duties, call answering and check-in through to accurate payment handling, food and beverage provision, maintaining supplies and upholding, promoting and selling our full range of spa services.

Hospitality Skills Development to Meet & Exceed Customer Expectations

First impressions always count, so a key consideration is the possession of exceptional customer service skills and a natural affinity for engaging with customers and anticipating their needs.

Another key objective is the endeavour to elevate our personal service beyond recognised 5-star treatment by recognising our guests’ individual circumstances and identifying opportunities for going the extra mile and creating a better experience for them wherever we can.

The latest members of the spa team joined English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues within a few weeks of each other and it has been great seeing Katie and Holly grow in confidence and bond with the team since they started their new jobs.
