There’s a beauty and majesty associated with these amazing birds. The Wild Boar woods is a perfect habitat to observe the hawks swooping and flying through the trees. Our Falconers are passionate and knowledgeable about the hawks and the sport of Falconry, and this is a perfect opportunity to learn, to observe and get hand’s on, quite literally. Join the Falconers for this amazing 'Hawk Walk', a woodland walk with a hawk flying through the trees alongside you. An experience that will live long in your memory.

You'll have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with these beautiful birds by becoming the falconer yourself. Calling the bird to land on your gloved fist, you'll experience first-hand the special bond between man and bird.

The Wild Boar's alternative Afternoon Tea Picnic. It's the same Alternative Afternoon Tea, loved by all, but served in the great outdoors.

Choose your location, either on our lawns, or it can be packed into our Land Rover and we will drive you, and your portable feast, to a beauty spot in our 72-acre private woodland. This is al fresco dining at its best. Blanket, cushions, pic-nic basket filled with satisfying and mouth-watering savoury and sweet treats, a bottle of our home-brewed beer, or a Prosecco of your choice. Falconry may be the Sport of Kings, but this is certainly a pic-nic fit for a king.

The Wild Boar is located close to Bowness-on-Windermere, in the south of the Lake District. Situated next to the B5284, part way between Windermere Gold Club and the small Lake District hamlet of Crook. The hotel has parking to the rear, next to the hotel's own private ancient woodland.
